What's In Store For Golf In 2013?
2012 has been a great year for Precision Golf, a huge year for British sport and a brilliant year if you’re a European Golf fan. However, now we are in the final stretch of December, what can next year bring us? We have left it to PG’s oracle, Jack, to make 5 bold predictions on what he thinks may happen in the golf world in 2013. Be sure to let us know what you think on Facebook, or by tweeting @precisiongolf.
With Rory McIlroy cemented as the man to beat in 2013, and the Ryder Cup back in its rightful place, here are my top 5 predictions:
1 – Tiger returns – He has finally got his swing to the point where he can fully trust it again, and is now devoting more time to feel and putting. He came very close in 2012, but with a little more feel and trust, he will dominate. People are quick to forget what he is capable of. 2 majors for the Tiger!
2 – McIlroy is winless in the majors – Don’t get me wrong, there is no bigger Rory fan than me. However, the pressure will be enormous, new clubs, more demand on his time. I think his golf will suffer, only very slightly, but there will be an adjustment period next year.
3 – Rose wins the Masters – Technically as good as anyone, firmly in the top 5 in the world rankings and now has the confidence and experience to get the job done. He loves the course, and will grab the tournament by the scruff of the neck if he is in contention in April.
4 – Donald falls out the top 5 – Quite simply, there are a lot of better players in world golf. He has been riding the crest of a red hot putter for 2 years, however as the putts stop falling, his long game will be exposed.
5 – Monty wins a senior major – With a main tour top 5 just a couple of months ago, the game is there, he will get a huge lift.
