Mizuno JPX825 Woods Range 2013

Mizuno JPX825 Woods Range 2013

PG's Mizuno 2013 Review

Mizuno are well known for their aesthetically pleasing and high performing irons, but how will their woods fare in 2013? Simon had a look at the new JPX825 driver, woods and hybrids, and gave us his thoughts below!

JPX 825 Driver

Mizuno have used a 5-piece construction with different varieties of Titanium for each part to optimise the Centre of Gravity. This has allowed them to create a very thin 0.5mm crown helping to promote a high launch and low spin – something we saw when testing the heads as well. This head sits square and cleanly at address with the all-black head keeping a compact look. It is a very forgiving and user-friendly head and one not to be overlooked. The only shame is that they are only available in Right Hand.

JPX 825 Fairway Woods

One of the focuses with this head was to make it look easy to use and Mizuno have used a slightly on-set face to show the entire loft to the player at address. The white grooves on black face also helps this visual and with a neat sole profile to help the head sit low to the ground behind the ball it is a very forgiving-looking club, also sitting square as well which players of all abilities tend to prefer. The use of a maraged face give a bit more flexion and ball speed off the face but also produces a solid, responsive sound at impact. Overall, as with the driver, this is a head that is easy to launch, forgiving and sits well behind the ball. Also only available in Right Hand.

JPX 825 Hybrid

The JPX hybrids have always been easy to flight and this head is no exception, however the compact shape and black colour give it a much cleaner and compact look than past models. This shares the same maraged face for speed and sound as the Fairway Woods but the deep weighting and forgiving performance help make this a very usable head. Due to the compact style this head sits very cleanly behind the ball and feels very solid – a brilliant head for high launching yet strongly flighted shots. Also only available in Right Hand.
