Titleist 913H, 913F + 913FD Review 2013

Titleist 913H, 913F + 913FD Review 2013

PG's Titleist 913F+H Review 9013

We’ve had the Titleist 913 Drivers here at PG for quite a while now, and they have been extremely popular! Will the woods and hybrid have similar success? PG’s Simon had a good look at them all, and read his thoughts on their performance below:

913F

Titleist have refined the successful 910 Fairway range and as such the changes are fairly subtle. The head size is fractionally larger (however without close scrutiny this is as good as unnoticeable) but the slightly flatter sole and shallower head help the club to sit more comfortably behind the ball which will help a lot of players feel more confident at address.  This promotes a slightly higher launch, however the stronger spin profile over the 910 heads keeps the flight penetrating. The sound off the face is slightly more responsive and makes it “feel” like there is more ball speed. Overall it is certainly an improved head and a few yards longer than the 910 series with the performance backing up the claims of “Preferred look”, “Superior Sound and Feel” and “More Distance”. There is also a shorter hosel length on the 913 series over the 910 for a cleaner look to the head. The hosels have changed from the 910 to the 913 series Fairway Woods and Hybrids so shafts cannot be interchanged.

913Fd

Exactly the same characteristic changes have been made to the 913Fd as the 913F over the 910 series and again Titleist have delivered on their marketing claims. The 913Fd had around a 10% reduction in spin over the 913F (this was between 300rpm and 350rpm when Simon tested using our Trackman, using the same shaft in both heads) but the launch angle was very similar. The lower spin is what makes the Fd the stronger head of the two off the tee, however it does make it harder to flight for many players off the fairway too but a much more playable head than the 910 version. The same shorter hosel is used on the 913Fd as the 913F. The hosels have changed from the 910 to the 913 series Fairway Woods and Hybrids so shafts cannot be interchanged.

913H

The head on the 913H is, to all intents and purposes, identical to look down on at address to the 910H meaning all the changes have been internal. It is certainly slightly more forgiving and when testing with almost identical shafts (due to the fact the hosels have changed from the 910 to the 913 series Fairway Woods and Hybrids so shafts cannot be interchanged) there was an increase in ball speed of on average 2mph and 250rpm less backspin creating around 5 yards extra carry distance. Overall flight profile is almost identical but a slightly more forgiving head and longer distance.
